• The potential for misinformation: Outside advertising can also be a source of misinformation. This is because the information that is presented in these ads is not always accurate or up-to-date. For example, an ad for a weight loss product may make false claims about the product’s effectiveness.

• The potential to distract patients: When patients are waiting to see their doctor, they are often anxious or stressed. This is a time when they need to focus on their health and their upcoming appointment. However, outside advertising can be a distraction. This is because the ads are often loud and flashy and they can be difficult to ignore.

For these reasons, it is important for medical providers to be aware of the issues that can arise when outside advertising is displayed in their waiting rooms.
